Welcome to the Official TAVNE Website
Greetings TAVNE membership
As the Executive Board is developing the Fall 2011 Fall Convention agenda, we are aware of the economic constraints that we will all be facing in the coming years. I would like to share with you the economic advantages of attending TAVNE:
 |
TAVNE conventions have been reduced from two to one per year. This allows participants to save on travel, lodging and meals. |
| |
 |
One conference per year allows us to receive more Continuing Education Units. If a member attends two conventions, there will be more than adequate CEUs for licensure renewal requirements. |
| |
 |
Convention planners have worked with our venues to keep room rates reasonable. To facilitate this, we plan sites a year plus in advance. Believe it or not, we are already planning for Fall 2013! |
| |
 |
The convention gives you the opportunity to network with people who really understand you issues, problems and concerns. |
| |
 |
Membership is included in the conference fee. This may promote some schools to pay for both. |
| |
 |
and remember, TAVNE is the only organization that promotes Vocational Nursing Education in the state. |
A couple of suggestions from Executive Board Members regarding acquiring funds are, explore the possibility of acquiring Perkins funds to relieve the program budget of conference fees and two, explore the possible of “quick turn around” grants from your local community for faculty travel.
Now, I need your assistance. We are planning a poster session that highlights the great things we are doing in our programs. We are asking each program to bring a poster that demonstrates your special “thing”. Have you figured out how to incorporate a special technological aspect to your program (clickers, Camtasia, Adobe Connect, Soft Chalk, etc)? What about incorporation of DECs? Curriculum mapping? I know there are others. We really want to share your great ideas with everyone. Please RSVP to me by July 15, 2011, with your topic, so that we can plan a presentation space. My email address is bsims@coastalbend.edu.
Finally, conference planners ask that you contact Linda Bland, lbland@tvcc.edu, ASAP if you have any special food preferences.
